Message from the designer

The Transfigured collection revolves around the female silhouette of desire as represented throughout the eras, merged with the natural silhouette, to dismantle the association of what is and what was the desired female form.

I chose to use mesh fabrics within the collection to help convey this idea, seeing both the manipulation of the silhouette as well as the natural female form underneath. The monochromatic use of black fabrics were chosen to deepen the connection to the silhouette and heighten the visual aspects of each garment.

As a designer I will always have ethical and sustainable practices in mind, seen through the use of recycled plastics within all of the garment structures, however when creating this collection my main objective was the celebration of the natural female form. The outfits all reference historical forms of silhouette such as panniers, crinolines and bustles within specific periods of time and combining this with visuals of the natural form together in a garment, to help shed light onto the natural female figure, it’s beauty and the contrast to these desired forms throughout historical periods. Further referencing these specific periods of dress, the use of design lines and embellishment placements have also be drawn on to enhance the historical element within the designs.

All of the garments within the Transfigured collection are custom made specific to the model, enhancing and adapting to the the wearer’s unique body type and linking to the classical production methods used throughout history.
